Pressure Calibrator

06/28/2012 8:41 AM

Hi All,

During the Loop test we are using high range of pressure calibrator to do loop test, but the client do not allowed to use the high pressure calibrator.

inst range 0 to 20 barg

PRssure calibrator 0 to 100 barg

any advise please.

When reading only 20% of its full range, the calibrator might not be as accurate as desired. (It won't hurt anything, though.)

when calibrating a presure gauge you must consider the instrument range because instrument has their own min and max capacity for the accuracy and precision of the measurement.

Are you doing a calibration or loop test. If you are just doing a loop check most HART compatabel instruments have a loop check function so you can make the instrument send a signal into the Control system.

Hi all Actually were doing calibration but because I dont have pressure Calibrator close range to the test unit, therefore I use high range? Is it appropriate to use? Regard

I think your client is just afraid you'll damage his 20 barg pressure transmitter with your 100 barg calibrator.

This is usually not a problem unless you use an automated pressure generator. Say, you select 30 bars instead of 20 bars and the pump is just happy to oblige. We use a manually-operated pressure generator (hand-pump or screw-operated piston).

Our calibrator goes up to 100 barg as well and we use it to calibrate instruments down to 30 barg. We just make sure we inject no more than 30 bars.

regards,

Vulcan
