It makes what goes out bigger than what comes in by a factor called the 'gain'.

Do not attempt to amplify spaghetti with this device. It'll break it.

But spaghetti comes out of the pot bigger than it goes in. Ergo the pot must be a form of amplifier. Would it work with my hi-fi?

Thinking, drinking, inversely proportional, and all that.....

The fact is, spaghetti and amplifiers are two things very dear to me, so it is rather nice to see them feature in the same post. Just don't get the pots mixed up.
