The Chief Joseph Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Columbia River, 2.4 km (1.5 mi) upriver from Bridgeport, Washington, USA. The dam is 877 km (545 mi) upriver from the mouth of the Columbia at Astoria, Oregon.

Looking to trade for large bridge....in big city.....with historical significance...and tolls(no not trolls)

There are many small privately held hydroelectric operations and some periodically come up for sale. I had hoped this post would be productive, as the same thread a few years ago had several good ideas.

I am only aware of one actively for sale, Deep Creek Hydro. Annual production is in the range of 1800 megawatts a year but the facility is not operational at this time.

Any useful information would be appreciated

Jonsson, can you tell us ANYTHING that might narrow your request?

So far the only things we know are:
1800 megawatts/year is unacceptable
The facility must be operational at this time.

Actually we don't know anything. You seemed to have editorialized, not given criteria.

I have visited the deep creek hydro site (May 2012) and know a lot about it. The owner, Gordon Foster, is partially disabled and spends the winters in MX. He's reachable by phone or text. Ocasionally by email. I have a lot of the information you may want but frankly have found the site uneconomical. The best year power production was <1,200Mwh. The current Grid operator pays ~$51/Mwh with a decrement of 16% in peak season (Mar-Jun) and a 8% increment off peak. I will answer some questions but feel like I may be stepping on Gordon's toes with too much.

Something with enough water to run property off grid, a check from electronic company wouldn't hurt , That place in Washington in Shangri LA & I was working my ass off to try & buy is there pics of it still in existance?does new owner have long term plans for it?

Hi, I saw your post on CR4 still looking for a hydro power site. It has been a while since we have chatted and your old email is not working. Are you still doing your wood pellet business in Alaska? I know of two licensed sites in North Caroline and broke one unlicensed all of which are below a dam so the river is somewhat control. One in Bend Oregon that Pacific Corp owns and is looking to sell. That one is downtown next to mirror pond/park. There might be two seasonal sites down my way in Sacramento but they don't have any dams above them so they only operated when it rains or has a snow pack,.. So no luck with any places up there to set up a power & mining site?

Hello Mark! Thank you for replying. I will try to give you a call soon and get caught up on things. Unfortunately, my pellet idea didn't work out for me. I couldn't produce the product for less money than market price. Bummer! So I sold the equipment and the real estate and am on the hydroelectric search again. Thanks! Chris

I have been following this thread for a few years now and am still interested in a small hydro project or site to buy, preferably Western Washington. Might consider Oregon.
