This sad story underlines the following important principles:

  • Only buy equipment from branded, industry-proven long-player manufacturers.
  • Make sure that the manufacturer is involved with commissioning. Document any and all advice received.
  • Keep commissioning records.
  • Keep maintenance records.
  • Keep standard operating procedures.
  • Keep manuals.
  • Maintain a relationship with the manufacturer throughout the period of use of the equipment up to and including the point where the equipment is decommissioned and divested.

Slacker....

Excellent obsevation and 100% correct !!

Unfortunately, NONE of these important principals, standards and good common sense are being followed in the third world.....

All paperwork and records are to be discarded when a plant is resold........ its an old MBA credo !!

It is much easier to purchase old rusted plants and equipment without any manuals or records...........then they hire a brand new engineer from the local university ....... make him responsibe for everything .........and then he will promptly post all tchnical questions on this forum !!!
