Cable Laying Procedure

07/31/2012 7:36 AM

Dear sir,

I have 7 nos of temperature sensors in different locations. I used 1Px1.5sqmm cable for connecting sensor to the PLC. Actually the PLC panel location is far away, approx 200m. So a junction box is installed and all the 7 sensor cable are terminated in the junction box.

Now, the question is from the juntion box to PLC, whether I have to lay 7 Nos of 1Px1.5 sqmm cable or Can I use 10P or 12P x 1.5 sqmm cable?

Can I use multipair cable to club the analog signal from the sensors?

What are the practical difficulties, if I use 12P cable for reduce the number of cables? Is any other possible way or any standard procedure, please kindly clarify.

Regards,

Kailash

The above description reflects the use of multipair cables elsewhere. Go for it.

If one were to run 7 individual cables back to the PLC, then one wouldn't need the junction box.

That depends on the availability of it at your location.

Are you really using 1Px1.5mm2 or is it really 2x1.5mm2?
