The old saying, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, still applies.

I would ask someone who has either been their with experience, or a travel guide that lives/works there for the best advice on clothing.

The one thing that pops to mind is that anytime you rely on a new or newer technology you run the risk of some failure. If your life or health is dependent on that gear, then you better have a backup plan.

I am not so sure such garments were designed for extreme climates or not, but I would be inclined to find out what locals do because that is a proven technology.

Another thought. Restocking and finding batteries may not be dependable.

My thoughts, too.

I would not want to risk my life on thin clothing that was battery powered.

Running out of batteries is only one opportunity for failure. Broken wires and corrosion are two more. Then what if a Yak steps on it?

Maybe as a back up, if you need it.

I agree with AH completely.

I look on these heated garments as a comfort enhancement in cold weather, more suited for use at an outdoor football game than the wilderness. If you are counting on the added heat to preserve your life in extreme cold, I would most certainly advise that better insulated trousers, boots, socks, jacket, gloves, cap, etc. would be a much better (safer) option.

I have spent many days and nights outdoors in -20°F with acceptable comfort and safety. This was accomplished with layers of appropriately selected (non-electrified) outerwear.

I live and work in the Canadian arctic, for the best bang for your buck, the garment at the link below is about the best you are going to find. It has kept me warm and productive down to -65 deg C on many occasions and for prolonged periods.

Canada Goose Resolute Parka

PS... stay away from battery powered gizmos. They fail... this parka will not.

Thanks to all my friends for your sincere advice. I will avoid heated jacket and will go for traditional one. Temp. in the area I am planning to visit will be -5 to 10 deg. I think I will be able to manage it.

Maybe or or maybe even

I expect a man about town such as yourself can find many enjoyable diversions!

As AH said, if you can share photos of your trip we would very much like to see them.

About 10 years ago i spent 3 months in Wabush Labrador. Temperatures got down to -40 degrees F. I did not see anybody with a powered jacket and they lived in that climate. I believe they know something about the topic.

Working up in the mountains the winter of '09 building a log cabin, I found that layering two pair of thermal underwear beneath everything kept nearly all body heat confined even though I had to shed outer layers as the sun peaked, then put them back on again as it dropped below the trees.

One layer of thermal underwear was not enough for long exposure even at temps between 0 and +25F. Two layers seemed 10 times warmer.

Fingers and toes will be your worst worry tho. Not much circulation there.
