Are you referring to a 25 Sync relay?

yes.is a syn check relay.

basically the 2 tx input to the switchboard are same model,same type.

if same model & same type,it should have same vector,angle.

hence,do we still need to run syn check before we close the breaker??

If the 2 transformers are fed from 2 different sources of supply ( viz:utility supply /captive power plant source ) check sync relay is a must even if the 2 transformers are identical in all respects.

If both the transformers are fed from the same source,the said relay need not be considered.However,some clients go for the relay in all the substations for standardisation/uniformity purpose.
