Change in Electrode Trade Mark and Change PQR

08/22/2012 9:32 AM

If trademark in one electrode with the same F No. changed is it required to provide the new PQR or not? For example, E-7018 with same F No. and same A No. from ESAB factory changed with AMS factory.

Thanks.

Depends who the customer is, and what their requirements are.

Some customers require all suppliers to be vetted and certified for the specific products used in the item. US space program is an example.

Other, more reasonable customers, won't care.

Ask the customer.

It may also depend on your local Codes (if any) for pressure vessel, piping, or structural welding, whichever it is. This may be classified as a significant change (new procedure required) or non-significant change (existing procedure okay).

If you specify your location, someone here may know right away.

every welding rod co. has there own markings. you need to call the manufacture and ask exactly what are the properties of the rod in question.
