Energy Monitoring Device

08/26/2012 6:29 AM

I am looking for an Energy Monitoring Device to be used for energy conservation purposes at home and business, by studying the energy usage pattern of important loads, leaking electricity etc. Some details:

  • For single phase, 230 V 50 Hz
  • To monitor voltage, current, kWh, pf, THD and log values at preselected intervals, starting in milliseconds and running to 48 hours.
  • Other features: RTC, Bluetooth interface or IP facility for web based monitoring or USB, Openable CT based or plug in type

Any such device available in India at reasonable cost for personal use?

You want a professional analytical tool for personal use?

I can dig that.

I hope you weren't expecting it to be cheap.

$4995 without any probes yet.

A US company called Dranetz makes what you are looking for and its goodies can provide a wide range of data outputs.

Regarding cost, you will have to decide whether the cost is worth the value but it DEFINITELY will be able to do what you want and it is sold and supported all over the world.

Mr. Nair,

May I suggest a related product that you may be able to apply? Take a look at the Schneider Electric PM1200 energy monitor http://www.powerlogic.com/product.cfm/c_id/1/sc_id/4/p_id/56. It may not be as robust as what you have in mind, but it is very affordable. It does not do internal data logging; however, it has an RS485 output in Modbus protocol for exporting to a logging device.

Look for DATA LOGGERS. Sometime back we used some self contained loggers which could be plugged into a pc to get recordings.

Onset makes the HOBO. I'm sure there are others. Not nearly as expensive as Dranetz ect.
