A1: 1e0m3

A2: 3.2e4m3 would fill it, though it may need a bit more than that to purge it, depending on the nature of the substances in the line and their maximum desired levels at the end of the purge sequence, which details have not been shared.

Volume of pipe = 8913 cu.m

Pipe dia = 40"

Length = 11 km

If you are in a hurry, just inject N2 in the pipeline from one end, vent it out in the other end, keep continuous flow of N2 until the O2 content drops to <5%.

The 2nd way is to pressurize the pipeline with N2 up to 80 PSIG and depressurize it to 5 PSIG. continue pressurizing and depressurizing until the O2 content drops to <5.

You can apply the ideal gas equation for this calculation.
P1V1 = P2V2 (but volume are the same)
Also, the O2 is 21 volume %..............
Then you can know how many times you need to purge

Do you need spoon feeding or ...

1. "How much Nitrogen Gas required to fill 1 cu.m of Pipeline?"

A: 1 M3

2. "11 km of pipeline, 40" dia." --Volume?

A: 8918 M3

By the way, why can't you sail with MKS units only. Why do you have to mix up with British units?
