Sir,

We have problem of Gas pressure, We have 8 psi pressure at main line but some time the pressure drop till 3 to 4 psi.

Could you solve this problem? If yes, give the details.

We have 6 generator of Caterpillar 1250 KVA (one mega watt each ) flow rate 300.what type of booster and controller you suggest.

Could you solve this problem? If yes, give the details.

We require the booster or controller or any other solutions.

Kindly send us products details with price list. Have you dealer or agent in Pakistan?

I wish to make business relation with you on long term basis.

What gas do you use as feed? Can you post caterpillar generator type no.?

An analysis of your gas supply system may be much less expensive and troublesome than installing a booster.

* Is your gas supplier reducing the supply pressure to 8 psi from a higher pressure? If so, their regulator may be undersized or not operating properly. Or is their upstream line pressure dropping?

* Is the low pressure due to pressure drop in your line? Does it happen at high flows? If so, your line may need to be enlarged.

* You may need to install additional monitoring gages to properly analyze the problem.

Bigg, the scenario here in Pakistan is different. The line gas pressure is 80 psi and the Industrial pressure is 8 psi. So at the meter station of each factory (covered with lock & key only by gas company) they reduce to 8 psi. There is gas shortage and the inlet gas is reduce by volume, the outlet is 3psi and at times drop to 2 psi or below. The gas company says there is no gas so there is nothing anybody can do here except opt for alternate fuel (biomass/coal) for boilers/thermal or power. We have >6000 Mw shortfall so there is no electricity. 60% of our Industries are on self generation with gas engines and now with this situation they are all springing out with their problems. So NO gas & NO electricity GO Coal ( We are world's 5th biggest coal reserve with barely 1 or 2 coal-fired 3or5 mw plant). I don't know the statics but on coal power generation we may be 0.0001% Vs rest of the world.

If OP's problem is as you describe, installing a booster would not help. It would only use more gas to produce the power to run the booster while 'robbing' other users of some of their gas.

there can be 3 reasons for pressure drop 1-the main line pressure is dropping .2-kindly check your pressure regulator 3-the line diameter (if its less then your full load consumption then pressure can drop when the gen-sets are under high load).for pressure booster you also have to arrange accumulator .

Tariq,

This is not your problem only. The whole of Punjab suffered and now Karachi is facing it.

Caterpillar cannot take the pressure drop and GE jenbacher/Wakeusha can sustain the pressure drop below 3 psi. What can the booster do when there is no flow volume in the pipelines. Like Punjab 3 days/week gas shutdown with 2 days pressure drop and every december to march total shut down gas to captive power. You are now on 1 day gas shutdown and 3 days pressure drop. this december~march you will be shutdown. may~june they will bring you to 2 days shut down instead 1 day. Your only option while you still have time to opt for Coal-fired co-generation with steam turbine lest in 2014 you opt for this and sell off all your engines as scrap due NO GAS. Email me at duconems at yahoo dot com.
