Hydraulic Grab Hose Drum Follower

10/08/2012 11:15 AM

I am currently dEaling with a hydraulic graB used to diG a diapragm walL.A double aCting cylinder drives open and close the bucket (closing-getting soil..open-discharging soil).the hydraulic oil supply and retUrn to the cylinder is fEeD via two hydraulic hoses 1.25 inch insidE diameter.A two pieces drum ensure the folLowing of the the two hosEs as the bucket and cylindEr go down and to ensure the constant tensioN oe the hoses.the hoses should folLow the bucket and cylindEr's mOvement or it wilL be pResSeD betweEn sideground and the bucket itself.it bursts.the two hose drums are eaCh driven by a fixd disPlaCement mOtor.both motorS are tUrneD by a pResure coMpensateD,variaBkf disPlaCement pistoN pump.when the bucket reaChes 40 meter doWn the two hose drums cAn nO loNger rewind up when the bucket is remOveD ouT of the hole.what maybe is the cAuse of the stalLing?

It's probably not a stuck Shift key.

Need a new keyboard?

It's a weakly embedded secret code.

I just cracked it and it says you and a number of other CR4 members are on a list you probably don't want to be on!

If you get a package in the mail soon just make sure you have someone of whom you are the beneficiary of their life insurance policy open it for you. (At a distance of course.)

Apparently he's typing on a telephone (not a smartphone) keypad. To type a letter, he has to press the same key multiple times. Also apparently, the first time through gives Capitol letters, while the second time through gives the lower case letters. So to type a 'C', he presses the'2' key 4 times, while to type a 'c' he has to press it 7 or 8 times.

In any case, it makes the message nearly impossible to read.

I find it interesting: you've probably seen those messages where the first and last letter of each word are correct, and the rest of the letters of each word are scrambled in order. Many people, including myself, can read those messages with only a little difficulty. I find these random capitol letters much more disrupting than the scrambled mid-letters.

What does your service tech/repairman/maintenance man/equipment supplier/operator's manual say regarding the capacity of these motors. Are you overloading them?

I thought you said, "im an ojt stUdEnt mechanicAl engIneEring." Which would indicate that this is homework, and not a real life problem.

If this is a real problem, see above.

It's really hard to read your telephone keyboard message!

Since you say to dig, I presume you are talking about digging a well, not a wall. I don't understand where a diaphragm comes int the picture, unless it is the device that opens and closes the bucket...

One possibility: There may be a pair of guide rollers on each drum that move back and forth to guide the hoses as they fill the drums. The mechanism that moves these rollers must be adjusted according to the size of the hoses, or the hoses will climb on top of each other and possibly be pinched. Make sure the guide rollers move at the correct rate.

There is also presumably another pair of rollers for each hose to keep them centered in the well. There must be a reasonable distance between the centering rollers and the guide rollers. If there are no guide rollers, then there must be a significant distance between the centering rollers and the drums. If neither of these roller sets exist, installing one or both might help.

Finally, if the problem only occurs beyond 40 meters, then it is probable that the hoses are being lowered either too rapidly or too far, or both, resulting in tangling and/or crimping of the hoses. I presume that there is a dry section of well at the top, a water-filled section, then a mud- or sand-filled section, where you are removing the mud or sand. Once the bucket reaches the top of the water section, the speed must be reduced to allow the water to flow past the bucket, and when the bucket reaches the mud or sand section, the speed must be greatly reduced, then stopped. There should be some form of sensor to detect arrival at each of these points, and a mechanism to control the reel motor speed accordingly.

Yes its a walL.using the bucket we cAn diG a rectangular spaCe underground with an area equal to .athe faCe area of an open bucket. series of thIs rectangular sPaCe or hole wilL make a walL after pouring coNcrete.yes youre riGht at 40 beyond we reach water.and yes its like diGgIng a series of rectangular welL.the purPose of the underground walL is to coNfine underground, rainwater pReventing it to flow to the lower level ground.in doing so water goes up forming a stagnant body of water, lakelike.yes,my hose drum term is the same as mOtor reEl or hose reEl tUrning bAck and forth to follow the up and downward mOvment of the bucket.and yes there should be a centering rolLer with respect to the welL's center to make the hose in line with the wire rope holding the bucket cylindEr asembly.regardlesS of the sPeeD the hose reEl stalLs min upward drirectioN beyoNd 40.

FroM the schematic diagram the secoNdary relieF pResSure of the pump suplying pResure to hose reEl motor is 330 bAr,primary relief pResSure of the pump is 400 bAr.volume flow is gIven at certain maximum pump rPm.coMpensatioN pResure is 300 bAr...If the mOtor is overloadEd and to avoid mOtor replaCement or gear box ratio replaCement is it safE if wilL reset the secoNdary relieF pResure of the pump to near 400,say 380,reset the coMpensatioN pResSure to near 380,say 370?the Motor has pResure limiting valve.is it necesary to reset it?there is a wire conecteD to the pResure limitingvalve like an electric sensor.if it is safE to reset it to a hIgHer pRresure hHIgHer than the coMpensatioN pResure, how to reset it.is it safE for the mOtor?
