Pressure Pumps & Scavenge Pumps

Need to confirm if we can use a pressurizing pump as a scavenge pump ? My idea is that if we can alter its drive in a way that it revolves in opposite direction, then we can . Is this possible?

What sort of pump - centrifugal, lobe, diaphragm, etc.?

Centrifugal pump will not reverse fow if rotation reverses. Positive displacement pumps can.
