Over compensation is more expensive than under simply because you've paid too much for you're power factor correction equipment.

No perceivable advantage except a marginal boost in bus voltage.

But the disadvantages are many like, again all the problems of low pf (if a very large compensation is provided), penalties, increased demand, increased losses in the system, heating, uneconomical, etc.
