14 Pin Uknown Timer IC

11/04/2012 8:45 AM

Dear All,

Please help me identify this unknown timer ic 14 pin DIP.

as soon as it gets the positive supply, the transistor at pin 8 keeps the relay on for a certain time based on the RC combination at pin 1,2. after which, the relays switches off.

we can have the same thing done with other ics too, but please help me identify this particular ic.

thanks

The wiring pattern is not familiar to me but I do not see any direct connection to a voltage source (VCC) on any pin in your diagram. So I believe that your diagram is inaccurate. I would certainly help identifying the voltage value (+5V,-6V,+12,+24,+3,etc.) for VCC, too.

pin 14 is positive supply (Vcc).

pin 4 and 11: No connection

pin 5,6,7,9,10,12,13 all earthed

pin 8 : output

pin 1,2,3 : RC combination

the voltage it gets is around +12V dc

sorry for the untidy circuit.

How old is the design?

This chip reminds me of the single 555 timer chip they used to make in a 14 pin pack, 12 Volt would be a reasonable supply voltage as well.

John.

Dual timer 555 comes as 556 with DIL 14 pins. Check to see if it is one of these 556 dual timer chip.

As I said Joshi they used to offer single 555 timers in 14 pin packaging as well.

It could even be a CMOS monostable or something....

Well, we now know it is not a 555 and it definitely is not a 556.

Obvious question but I'll ask it anyway. Any markings on the chip? Part number, logo, date code, anything?

This I.C is HEF4047 monostable/astable multivibrator.

Pin 8 on the HEF4047 is a trigger input. In the OP's circuit pin 8 is an output driving a transistor.
