Looks to me as if you're working fairly hard to keep this contraption moving.

Do you have any idea why it stops moving every time you stop spinning the little wheel?

What makes the cam "follower" move?

It looks more like a cam driver to me.

Why not use the motor that would drive the mechanism to drive the cam directly?

The purpose of this contraption escapes me.

So basically you made an overly complicated less efficient crankshaft design that serves no real purpose?

BTW if you are looking to convert a linear back and forth motion into a rotational motion a pair of rack and pinon sets, one over shot and one under shot in reference to the rotating shaft, with one way clutches on each of the pinion gears connecting them to the crank shaft will do the same thing but with far greater precision and efficiency than what you have there.

BTW what does any of this design have to do with coal or "clean energy" production or emissions in any way? Coal fired power stations use steam turbines and most "clean energy" emissions standards are now more smoke and mirrors based money politics than beneficial to the environment.

Well it doesn't look like much goes on with that site as far as discussion of designs for actual working/workable/buildable OU devices of any form being they have had a cash prize of around $15825 up for grabs since 2008!

On top of that all they are asking for is a device that puts out 1 watt hour of of DC electrical energy per hour 24 hours a day 7 days a week for at least 3 months nonstop.

Fine. I saw a few in a lifetime. Most looked good in the design phase. Once built, Practical details were discovered.

My most positive recommendation:

1,. Build prototype(s) simply, cheaply, and reasonably simplified for tabletop testing.

2,. Check lubrication in motion. But on a tabletop model I would use dry lubricant and some plastic parts first. At slow speed they would not mar the cam's surface.

3,. Drive the assembly from an electric motor. There you can measure the power inputted into your assembly.

4,. Keep expenditures under tight control. Your labor and time is relatively free. Most inventions underestimate and fail on this.

5,. At the same time learn thermodynamic. Its laws hold firm, and you will not be the first one even to "finesse" one.

6,. THEN you are ready to commercialize it. And that is an entirely different ballgame, with sharks in the water.
