Pumping System - Vapour Pressure

11/20/2012 9:08 AM

Hello everyone,

I wish to know how to determine vapor pressure of fluid to be used in pump system calculation for NPSHA and HHP.

Many thanks in advance.

It's probably on the MSDS for the fluid.

If all else fails, call the supplier of the fluid.

Or, Two of the 881,000 examples found on the web.

Vapor pressure will be saturation pressure corresponding to the temperature. This we can get from the steam tables .

Steam tables supply vapor pressure for water. Vacuum pumps generally use fluids with much lower vapor pressure than water, often mineral or synthetic oils. Vapor pressure for those materials is given on manufacturers MSDS or their data sheets.
