Can We Use Class-X CT in Place of 5P10?

11/28/2012 11:47 PM

hai all,

Is there any techincal prblm if we are using cl-x ct in place of class 5P10, because i need IDMT/inst. overcurrent protection only, but the ct available in the switchgear is cl-x only it is an existing panel the cl-x ct was already there in the panel kept as spare. there is no space for add one more set of ct's. it is a 415V 2275kVA generator.

thanking you,

More detailed spec of the Cl-x ct are required..like turns ratio,Voltage knee point,Maximum magnetizing current at Voltage Knee point, Maximum resistance of the secondary winding. Here ALF also not known.

Risks of unwanted tripping or no-operation under fault conditions...

sir, the ct ratio - 4000/1A, vk=800V, Rct-16ohms, i think the difference between cl-x and 5p10 are mainly in saturation point ie vk. so this might be suitable for the requirement.

thanks
