This factor accounts for the condition that not all of a class of appliances will be assumed running simultaneously. It is often specified in electrical codes, sometimes in a format such as: For up to 20 ranges, 75% will be considered as running; for 22-30, 70% running; etc.

(If expressed as ≤ 1, the full connected load is multiplied by this factor; if expressed as ≥ 1, divided.)

Similar to the cooking ranges,is there a chart or table given by IEE/IET for motors? To apply these given factors should all the ranges be connected to the same circuit/fuse/cb or in different circuits in the same room?. As all motors never run at full load or run simultaneously diversity factor is applicable. For sizing of generator, transformer, circuit breaker etc this factor is very important.

Diversity factor doesn't apply to appliances. It applies to distribution boards as a concept that not all the loads attached to it will be on at the same time.

Example: A 120A feeder to a distribution board with 8no. 30A wall outlet circuits connected to it could be said to have a diversity factor of 50%.

This rings a bell from way back. The definition is fine, but perhaps not the complete story ? First link I could find that alludes to this is here.

Diversity applies to cooking appliances, see BS7671

I am not aware of such a scheme for motors, but there might be. (There might not be a very good statistical basis for this, however.) In the case of motors, there may be usage/standby combinations such that only one motor of two would be running; situations like that may be analyzed individually.

I know this is a bit late.

BS7671 Rev 2 (2012) gives the diversity factor for motors.
