How to Estimate Cable Tray Weight Onboard?

How to estimate the weight of cable tray onboard an offshore drilling unit, does it have a defined relations with the cable size and number?

1. Get the cable schedule,

2. Get manufacturers' catalogs and look up the weight per foot,

3. Multiply and add appropriately to get overall weight per foot,

4. Don't forget the weight of the tray and its mounting accessories,

5. Multiply by the total length of the run.

Hi, thanks for you help. But what about during the basic design, while we dont have required materials available, and most of importance, we dont have time in contract. Just a rough estimation is OK. Let's say, the cables are 500 tons, then the cable tray and accessories will be a percentage*500 tons, eg 10%*500=50 tons. Do we have that rough percentage?
