Generator Synchronise

12/02/2012 11:46 PM

Mine is a 135 MW TG set. when we were synchronising we encountered this problem tht whn closing the GCB the R-Y phase breaker got closed properly but the B phase did not eventually causing generator backup acting n tripping on low forward power protection relay. can anybody please tell me in detail what actually could hv happened in this case..?? Why did the reverse power relay did not act in this case?

Because from the description given, the low forward power relay seems to have operated first. One might expect it if the B phase isn't connected to anything, perhaps?

At time of closing Generator ckt breaker all three shud close at same moment i guess n here the contact on B phase was not proper due to which it did not close within a particular time period...

While PWslack appears to be correct, use correct english for those of us not growing up with the specific set of abbreviations. Then, maybe we could read it, and contribute meaningfully, if you care to receive such. At 100MW, it might be worth it.

Thank you for correcting me. I would be careful in not using short forms in future. thanks for the concern.
