An internet search of "piping material specification" produced over 200 thousand results to help answer your question. That would be a good place to start.

To explain to people that their broad sweeping questions can be answered by a simple internet search.

Technically this answers their question while at the same time preventing CR4's community of professional Engineers and Scientists (and there are many of us) wasting their valuable time which could be better spent helping others on specific and less broad questions that cannot be answered by an inquisitive 9 year old with an internet connection.

CR4 rule number 1 - Look for answers before you post.

If you have to ask a question like this you have no clue whatsoever, do you?

"what information will (I) get from (the) piping material specification?"

The correct answer to this question (in my opinion) is:

The Piping Material (Line Class) Specification shall include everything needed to identify every pipe, fitting, flange, gasket, bolt, nut, valve, etc. required for a specific Piping project. The material in this Specification is arranged by Line Class Code grouping which includes; a) Commodity, b) Metallurgy, c) Corrosion Allowance, d) Design/Operating Conditions (Pressure/Temperature), etc. The descriptions for the individual items in this document are normally considered the "abbreviated" or BOM version.

The Piping Material Line Class Specification document will (or should have) a companion document called "The Commodity Code Catalog" (CCC). The CCC has the full Purchase Description for all piping material items arranged by Item Code Number.

Other Piping related Specifications are also required on a project such as Paint for pipe exterior coating, one or more Lining Specifications, Specialty Item Specifications defining items that may be used in multiple Line Class applications.

Now, why are you asking this question?
