New Commercial Ideas for Sizing Very Large Off-Grid 400kW

12/08/2012 10:01 AM

1. We have very large demand with 400kw peak power need in day.

2. We can use generator to feeding load at night and change to it manully.

3. We don't have any grid.

4. we need a very commercial design for off grid system to feed that demand at day only. So, can any one Help me?

Then approach suitable companies directly.

I wish whoever is giving these threads 5 stars, would stop doing it.

Use two generators, one for day load and other for night load.

I don't need to use generator.

I want green energy (solar) for day only.

for every one I designed this project but used a lot of Inverters, Batteries and money.

So, I need to discuss about commercial Design off-grid solar system for this Huge plant 400Kw

Thank you for all

For smaller systems that I have installed, batteries represent roughly 2/3 the cost of the installation. If you are only going to use the system when the sun is shining, then perhaps you can forgo the batteries, but you will still need inverters.

According to the world-wide solar insolation estimates, you can expect somewhere between 5 and 6 hours per day of usable sunlight. The better panels today can capture on the order of 100 W/m² of panel area, so you would need about 4000 m² of panels.

If you can use DC power directly (i.e., for lighting, heat generation, etc.) then you can reduce the need for inverters. If you need AC to power your equipment, you need inverters.

Your requirement seems interesting. What you are saying is you need a 400kw solar powered grid connected system- am I right.

Do you want someone to supply total grid connecetd solution- solar panels and associated interfacing electronics (may be minus battery as it is required in day time only) - or you just want help to design - and you will do rest?

As a very, very rough cost you are probably looking at about $500,000 - $700,000 USD just for the solar panels and inverter(s). Add design review, batteries, plant, switchgear, installation, control, site works, commissioning, transport of equipment to site, etc and you will probably be looking at over $1,500,000 USD.

This is a very large project and you should also talk directly with solar suppliers and installers for more general information, but you will likely need to hire a consultant and project manager to handle an Engineering project as large as this (although there are companies you can pay for solar solutions this large, which should be able to be found on the internet).

Solar power is a poor choice for emergency power, as the supply quantity is extremely variable in both seasonal and daily cycles, as well as quality of production versus demand. The ultimate usefulness of solar will be realized through extensive distribution technology improvements that enable people like you to access a globally, or at least continent wide, supplied grid. A green approach would be to invest heavily in efficiency improvement, energy use reduction and then build a small hybrid storage system, that most likely uses combination of generators, solar PV, and other sources to minimize reliance on stored energy. Storage may not be cost effective or green. If the goal is to have a fixed amount of energy available on a fixed schedule, careful analysis will reveal an appropriate ratio of production-on-demand versus variable production (solar, for instance) in a stored medium. The more you swing towards demanding guaranteed energy availability, the more variable (the solar/battery system) capacity you must have to maintain those grid type reliability levels. Good luck with your venture. BTW 400 KW in Sudan should generate about 620 usable Megawatt hours per year, or on average, about 52,000 KWHours per month. Of course, if you store them, you will lose about 20% of them.

Pl go to this link http://eqmaglive.com/EQ-ARTICLE-15036-Tender-specification-for-procurement-of-solar-power-from-developers-establishing-solar-powerplants-in-Tamil-Nadu.html?utm_source=EQ+International+%28EQ+Energy+Hub%29&utm_campaign=7cbc4b2d32-AP_TN_Tender12_10_2012&utm_medium=email#.UMMH96zpfwk

In India companies are establishing gigawatt solar power plants. So 400 Kw- is too small
