Steam Turbine Power Output Depending On Inlet Pressure

12/17/2012 6:24 AM

Suppose that inlet temperature of the steam turbine is the same and outlet pressure is the same. Then, how steam turbine power output will be varied according to the inlet pressure? And could someone tell me the reason with some kinds of the formular or so? Thanks in advance.

Hint:

  • turbine power is a function of the pressure difference across it and the flowrate through it. So there must be some sort of regulating device that varies the flow according to load put on it. Otherwise it would slow down.

It remains a mystery as to why the User Manual cannot be found and why the trained operatives running it cannot answer questions on this particular turbine.

The power out of the (ideal) turbine is represented by line from 3 to 4 (or 3' to 4').
