LOHER Motor and Bearing Axial Float

12/23/2012 1:33 AM

Subjected Motor was just overhauled and new bearing is installed, but axial Play was checked and found 0.40mm, any idea about recommended axial float!

Motor type: DNLW-250MB-02M

Bearing type: 6314M/C3

64 kW

480 V

Speed: 6566 (VSD)

93 A

110 Hz

Thanks in advance

Fahad

It depends of the temperatur rise of the shaft. Expand coefficient for steel is 12*10 - 6.

So if temp rise is 82 °K you will need 0.000012*82=0.000984m I would then give it 2mm.

The coefficient is in M/M or inch/inch so that the elongation for 82 K will be 984E-6 m/m. The 0.4 mm will be reached for a shaft 406 mm and the 2mm for 2000mm.

Vertical Pump motors ( and all others ) should always have a fixed bearing in the drive side, and the axial float in the non drive side. So it is free of risk to give a little bit too much axial play, but very expensive with insufficient.

If the bearings are changed because of bearing failure , then cut the old bearings and take a look in the tracks. it might give the answer .

Who overhauled it and what do they say about this value?

What does the motor manufacturer recommend?
