Seasonaire Heating System - Seasonaire.com

12/23/2012 10:58 AM

Seeing Handy's question, and having just watched a commercial for the subject product, I am prompted to wonder how they can make claims for the product, with no supporting evidence. With Montel Willaims as the pitch man, how can they lose.

The only number they give is that 5,600 BTU's of radiant heat flood the room and warms you to the bones.

I'd just love to plug one of these into my Kill-o-Watt and see what it draws vs how it heats in Minnesota today.

Has anybody tested one of these.

In round numbers, 5600 Btu/h ≈ 1640 W ≈ 15 A at 110 V. In most locales, electrical resistance heat is not as cost-efficient as other options, but if you heat only some rooms it can be a decent choice.

The hype factor is amusing.

Are there more than one? The one I saw was US$39.95.

The $39.95 was for the trial period. If you decide to keep it, you still owe 4 "easy" payments of $89.95.

That's grossly overpriced, then, except as a work of art in the hype.

Kind of like the diets that my wife goes on.

She orders some kind of magical, expensive weight loss supplement, and stops eating and drinking wine when she starts taking them. Amazingly, the weight starts coming off.

My wife bought a tread mill once. It has boxes stacked on it. She's a hoarder.

Mine has one too. It's out in my shop buried under junk.

Montel says he uses it year round. I wonder where he lives? The North Pole?
