PS- I'm not looking for another gun control discussion. This technology could get a little worrisome though. Seems like a one time use, fully automatic weapon would be possible.

Every time gun control comes up so does the price. I chalk this up to paranoid idiots and an unfounded fear that ANYBODY can ban all weapons in the USA.

Sure, high capacity magazines may become illegal, again. They'll just get lots more expensive and only slightly harder to get.

Congrats on your purchase. With kids around, it'll probably be as useless as mine, for protection. Guns and ammo out of reach, and locked up in different locations. I have to rely on my wasp and hornet spray.

I've never purchased a firearm in my life because I thought I needed protection. That's just me.

Yes, all my guns are locked up. This will make the third one I've bought, but not fired.

I agree that irresponsible journalism in general has become atrocious. However I cannot fault this web based article because in this season of CSI they already aired an episode where this happened. I know that CSI is fiction but it does spread the idea across a much wider audience.

Is it still good? I kind of drifted away when Grissom left.

Not bad for broadcast TV. There's still the absurd science of the genre to speed up the plot. (DNA identification the same day, only one scenario investigated at a time, instantaneous computer analysis, statistics and uncertainty never enters the discussion, no trivial evidence found at a scene that should eventually make the overwhelming pile, etc.)

NCIS is still one of my favorites. The original one with Gibbs.

Even if they get a little unrealistic, all of those crime shows provide a handbook for criminals, on how to cover their tracks.

Few criminals have the patience to study anything. Even when they get spoon fed by a mass media. I suspect retention is the problem.

Sadly, 3-D metal printing is already a reality. Someday, you'll be able to print yourself a complete, fully functional weapon.

Really? That sounds very cool.

Not for guns, but it would be awesome to be able to make my own replacement parts for the stuff that breaks around here.

Yeah. I was thinking about it, and I think most of us here could make a workable firearm............with or without a printer.

If they ban guns, the next thing will be to ban 3-D printers.

Ain't gonna happen. Just requiring a smaller magazine will create a massive criminal enterprise. If there's a demand, supply will follow. Laws don't matter..........they just make some things more expensive.

It'll probably work like a cross between a Wile E. Coyote blunderbuss and an exploding cigar.
