What is Dhimmitude?

12/29/2012 8:56 AM

Heard the word( today, and cannot find a reference anywhere.

Is this a real word,or has someone pulled my string (Dhimmitude)?

Perhaps a contraction of the phrase: "DenyHimAttitude""?

Any info is welcome.

Look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmitude

As far as other uses, depends on the context.

Dhimmitude: the Islamic system of governing populations conquered by jihad wars, encompassing all of the demographic, ethnic, and religious aspects of the political system. The word "dhimmitude" as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye'or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule. The word "dhimmitude" comes from dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning "protected". Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination. Islamic conquests expanded over vast territories in Africa, Europe and Asia, for over a millennium (638-1683). The Muslim empire incorporated numerous varied peoples which had their own religion, culture, language and civilization. For centuries, these indigenous, pre-Islamic peoples constituted the great majority of the population of the Islamic lands. Although these populations differed, they were ruled by the same type of laws, based on the shari'a.

You are right, I should have put link where I got answer from, but obviously OP can't do search for himself, so I figured, why bother. Before this question, I had no Idea what Dhimmitude was, after a simple search, I now know.

No sweat, that's how I found out too! Now if others would only do the same this site would have far fewer "I want somebody else to do my work" posts.

The question was posed in such a manner as to spur discussion, and to provide a heads up for the future use of the word in politics.Since the word is currently not familiar to many people, I knew they would google it and thereby be knowledgeable when it comes into more frequent public use.Be aware of it's use in application of health care laws.

A word to the wise will suffice.

Why would any semi-intelligent, thinking individual ever want to use, or be familiar with, such a repulsive word or concept?

Only radical Islamic throwbacks to the middle ages would ever have a use for such a word.

That's ridiculously cryptic. If you have a point to make, then please make it. Yesterday, not tomorrow.

It is not cryptic to some, only thought provoking. The point was made yesterday, and tomorrow will bear witness to the veracity thereof.

A prediction can sound like a threat, just as a Zebra can sound like a horse.

My posts are merely a prediction of things to come as I see them.

The problem we will have is not an attack from without, but an attack from within our own government . Not another WTC,but the subtle rocking to sleep of liberty by a government that promises to do everything for everybody.

"Go to sleep, go to sleep,

Little sheep, little sheep

Uncle Sam

Has your hand

There is no need to weep"

When wagering on the outcome of a battle, bet on patience over force.Certain factions are known for patience extending over hundreds of years.

If you will, take a look at world wide demographics and look ahead several generations;the victors are already cast.It is too late to reverse the outcome.

Do your homework and then give an informed opinion to my prediction, instead of crying "Wolf" in the pasture.

Of course, mine is only one of 7 billion+ opinions, as is everyone else's.

Unlike the saying that 50 million Frenchmen can't be wrong, 7 billion+ terrorists CAN be wrong, and are!

So, you are saying that everyone on this planet is a terrorist?Only 7 billion, you know.

And that 50 million Frenchmen are wrong?About what, might I ask? What do you know of French men?Intimate, perhaps?Biblical, maybe?

Conspiracies abound.Better look behind that Bush or Rock in the Creek(pardon the pun)

Never before has one's motto been so self revelatory, and never before has one's longitude and latitude been so revelatory of one's attitude.

"Paranoia will Destroy ya.."

As you say, it either is, or isn't.You have made yours very clear even to the uninitiated.Further debate with a coprolite() would be useless,so I bid you Audi.

My work here is done.

Although the literal meaning might be "protected," the actual effect is a kind of second-class status with legal restrictions and possibly paying of tribute.

Another medieval concept that should have been abandoned long ago.

Sounds like someone didn't have a good Christmas... . :-P

(in all seriousness, I agree. For example celebrating Sir Isaac Newton's birthday on December 25, feels positively modern compared to a midieval ritual devoted to a virgin birth of a god offspring as payment to the dad-god's bookie to unpawn all the future souls put up as collateral, .......not that the surprise twist ending from Jewish carpenter to friendly buddy-zombie, who didn't have to stay with the bookie on spite of the sale, and wasn't all that forsook afterall....wasn't .....um, ...interesting.)

yeah...I never wear synthetuc fibers nor have anything flammable on my person within 500ft of any cult worship building.... just in case I'm wrong about:

The Invisible Judgemental Voyeur In The Sky... ...

....who watches everything you do..

....always looking to see if you break one of his rules (rules, which he himself does not feel the need to obey)

...for if you do, he will use his all powerfulness to send you to burn and choke and writhe in pain for all eternity...

...because he Loves you....

...he loves you....and he needs more money..

gets billions tax free every year, and despite being all knowing and having a very long investment horizon....he's still terrible with money....he makes Congress look like Suzie Ormand.

...so yeah, haven't combusted yet....doubt it will ever happen.... .

God, a red nugget a fat egg, under a doG. .
