PMG and Excitor In Generators

hai all,
In a generator field is feed by excitor and the excitor is feed by PMG, my question is why PMG cant be used as an excitor, why two equipments are required, pls. explain im not expert in generator

i want to answer but not after explain what is the meaning PMG? and are you talking about the brush less exciter system or brushes.

Assuming PMG means "permanent magnet generator", then one can, though the equipment ceases to be called a generator; it is now an 'alternator', and most liquid-fuelled road vehicles have one.

O.k

PMG is a part of magnetic field that is developed by the winding main rotor exciter and it resides in the body of the rotor exciter. because it is iron.in some small generators use in there design small real magnetism on is north and the second is south because the rotor exciter is small size . the explain in this subject is too Long i think what i state is enough
