Main Steam Flow Compensation Calculation

01/12/2013 1:14 AM

Dear friends, regarding the flow compensation i have seen in many threads. In our power plant for calculating main steam flow we are using the following equation,

{19*P(actual)}/{1.48+0.01*T(actual)-0.0452*P(actual)*42.44} . Help me to understand the formula.

And I know the general formula is,

SQRT Actual flow*(density at operating temp and press/density at designed temp and press).

How to co relate the above equation with below equation.

Kindly give me some ideas or suggestions, how to get the formula.?

Also, please tell us what units you are using.

P= inches of water, inches of mercury, psia, psig, bar?

T= Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin, Rankin?

F= GPM, LPM, bathtubs per fortnight....?

I have often seen where someone has taken some unit of measure, multiplied/divided it by some constant or correction factor, and not explained the result. That is very frustrating, to say the least.

Pressure - MPA,

temperature - Degree celsius,

flow - CUM/Hr,

So flow = P/(t-P)? That doesn't look dimensionally correct.
