I Want to Changeover from Maintenance to Education/Design Field

Go back to school....are you a good student, patient, fast learner? Do you know somebody who can mentor you? Do you have a clear goal(this is essential)? Are you well motivated and disciplined? It can be done, but it takes strong conviction and relentless pursuit....good luck

I am doing this as well. I have 15 years experience in maintaining manual and CNC equipment. In oder to make the change you must have a goal or plan but that has already been stated. In addition to this pay a visit to the school you wish to attend. Not all training is equal from one school to the next. While there meet with a faculty from the area you would be training in. Find out how much advanced credit you might be able to receive for your work experience, if any. Or see what classes you can test out of. This is not meant to short change your training. It is only meant to reduce the course load so you can have a better chance of balancing life and school. Also do not be afraid of spreading the training out over more time than the average High School graduate. Hopefully this sets you up for a better chance at being successful.

I am sure experienced in maintenance-you will be first hand proffesional in design fields!!
