LOGO

01/19/2013 12:26 AM

I am new to using LOGO. I am trying to configure timers/relays in such a way as to permit 2 hours of use per 24 hour period, but not necessarily the same 2 hours each day. Once triggered, the device would allow 2 hours of uninterupted use, followed by 22 hours of "lock out". Then the cycle would begin again after the trigger event.

It was suggested to me that I use a LOGO to control a relay which would control a receptacle.

Any help exploring/programming it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

The LOGO! (the exclamation point is part of the official name) should have come with LOGOSoft Comfort, the programming software package for it. If not, then you likely bought it off of eBay or something like that where the seller failed to provide it. You get what you pay for in places like that. Anyway, in the software and manual, they provide help screens with examples of how to do what you are looking for. You can also visit Siemens' website for your country and get into the on-line tech support web pages dedicated to the LOGO!, there are hundreds and hundreds of pre-canned programming examples to accomplish similar tasks that you can download for free and load into the LOGO! If (judging from your handle) you are in the US, start here:

http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo2&aktprim=99&lang=en

Also, most Siemens Automation distributors (here in the US) are required to run periodic training classes on the LOGO! and the smaller PLCs. Not all Siemens distributors are allowed to sell automation, but there is one assigned to your geographic location somewhere.

The LOGO! is intended to be an "entry level" programmable relay. If you cannot figure out simple programming tasks like this and cannot wait for a class, maybe you should farm the task out to someone who can.

If 22h of lock-out followed 2h of use, and the 2h were not the same hours in any day, then the thing would be on for less than 7 periods per week, on average, and the on period would eventually drop back through the early hours of the morning into the eighth day.

Has this thing been conceived correctly? If not, then programming it will lead to a false start, and re-work.
