What is the VFD worth? Better what is the rating. What is it for? The motor data? any?

Why choke?

Dear Mr.coolguuy,

Max. distance should not exceed 30 Metres - after VFD. But it is better to as near as possible.

A CE-marked VFD does not need an external output choke.

As there are so many variables that effect the maximum cable distance it is advisable to directly contact the VFD manufacturer for application specific advice.

Alternatively some VFD manuals will have the necessary information in them.

The limitaion for the cable length will depend on the slew rate of the outputstage of the VSD. Some VSDs have high slew rate henec putting more restrictions on maximum cable length with dv/dt filter to 30 m. I advise you to contact your equipemnt manufacturer to confirm the selection of the dv/dt limiter.
