Daniel 1500 Series Turbine Flow Meter

01/31/2013 2:09 PM

Dear,

We have a Daniel 1500 series Turbine flow meter in our propane feed line. The max range is 0-700m3/Hr. Suddenly the reading went to zero. We checked all the connections and the supply voltage is fine. We simulated the frequency from the Pre-amplifier board and found reading is there. Then we checked the output of Pickoff coil, found the frequency is zero. Resistance of pick off coil measured as 330Ω. What could be the reason of not getting frquency from the coil? Is there any possibilty to get the pick off coil faulty. 2 pick off coil get faulty at same time???? or may be turbine element stuck. Please share your knowledge to resolve the issue.

Have you checked the propane tank? Is it empty?

If you are flowing enough through a restriction somewhere upstream of the meter, and if there is sufficient pressure drop, perhaps you are "freezing" up the turbine, and it is not rotating. I don't know, but it sounds plausible.
