The two are synonymous, with the latter (UPS) being more widely used.

Basically just a charged battery that will provide line voltage in the case of a power outage, usually about 20 minutes worth, long enough to backup your computers and shut them down properly....

I have a question....

If I can say your name 3 times in rapid succession, will the spell be broken??

You may need to give more details of your particular system. Other than batteries, capacitors or flywheels might be used to store short-term power, but I don't know of very many such systems.

[Editorial note: It should be "continuous power system."]

Continuous Power system is nothing but an enclsoure that consists of UPS and Generator and its corresponding panels. The eclsoure can also house various fire detection system, lighting, AC, noise suppresion system based on the location or application of use.

Since the system compromises of UPS and generator, in case of power failure/tripping, necessary support is provided by these equipments without disruption to operations.
