Dear Mr.Abusaleem,

I have faced a similar situation and we got an advise to do as follows:

1. Cut open a circle (where you want to fix the nozzle) in the tank, and the Dia. of hole should be 1.4 D where D is the Nozzle dia. In your case it is 12" nozzle and hence 16.8" say 17 inches to be cut.

2. Take a plate of 1.5 t, (where t is the thickness of your vessel) and cut a hole suitable for your Nozzle OD, and Weld the Nozzle to this plate and weld this plate to the tank.

Pl. try for this and post the information how you did this job in this thread or through CR4 PERSONAL MESSAGING.

Dear Mr DHAYANANDHAN.S Thanks for your reply, and sorry for late response due to problem on my PC, As I understand from API 650 for openings, all nozzles above 2'' we have to make nozzle pad equal to 2D, could we open for the nozzle only 12" and weld 24" pad ?
