Precision Air Conditioners

02/12/2013 2:08 AM

What is the life of air filters used in Precision Air conditioners? How regular do we need to change them?

It depends hugely on how dirty the surrounding air is.

Why did this not occur already?

What does your manufacturers Preventive Maintenance manual recommend?

Not following their minimum recommendations is inviting trouble and possibly invalidating your warranty.

If dirt accumulates the pressure drop increases and the more dirt the faster the increase. This increase is a power loss so that you could compute when it is economically reasonable to change.

Time depends on area nature of filter (its specific dirt accumulation capacity) and amount of dirt in environment.

Dear Guys,

All im asking is when should the filters of a PAC be replaced. like :- 6 months, a year or something like that.

The manufacturer (Emerson) have not provided any specific time frame for replacement. We do carry bi-monthly preventive Maintenance of the precison airconditioning units..

You should first try to understand how a filter works: the filter has an area through which air + dirt flows due to their small transverse dimensions the channels stop the dirt and reduce progressively the free cross area. Less area more pressure drop more pressure drop 2 effects : less air through, more power consumed and part of dirt are removed and flow inside the protected volume.

The manufacturer cannot specify a time interval since he does not know how much dirt is in the aspired air at your location neither can we do it at his place.

We made the effort to give you an OBJECTIVE way to see if the change is already required or not.

The best way is to measure the pressure drop at the filter as I mentioned the more dirt the higher the pressure difference. Make a every maintenance a pressure drop measurement when it starts to go up fast then the filter is on the way to be clogged and you should change it.

I think that the evolution in winter or summer will be different since the air in summer carries more solid dirt.

Only a wizard could be able to give you a change interval. If you do not accept the counsels try this way.

You could as well try to contact other users in your region and ask them for their experience it could help.
