Locking Collar Type Bearings

02/18/2013 8:38 AM

I've heard about concentric locking collar type bearings being perhaps better in some ways in place of set screw type bearings. Anybody have insights to the locking collar type?

Both types that I have seen on pillow block bearings. Very rarely have I seen the locking collar type come loose. Set screws tend work into the axle until they have worked themselves free.

Also, concentric collars do not mar the shaft, making bearing removal easier.
