Total Load Clarification or Support

03/07/2013 8:31 AM

If a load of motors ( 2nos is 110kw) transfer pumps (1duty / 1 standby), 2Movs each 2kw , 2modulatin valves same 2KW , any total load is 135 kw which is running load in addition to this i have load of 40 kW which is lighting load inluding AC Load . Here in this application the supplied power is from generator which will be working 24hours / day.My information is to know the pumps which are running are only for 20 hrs/ day & 4 hours they are stop. but for this 4 hours can is it possible to give continuous supply by generators to lighting loads.does it will effect to life time of generator. Please give us ur advice, suggestions, based according to possible solution. Is it possible to run thr generator for 4 hours to small loads (lighting). ifcyes please give me or support me with the solution. If no please also give me what are the conclusions / effect to the generator. Thanks &Regards sam.

Over what expected lifetime for the generator (rhetorical question - NNTR)? Reducing the load on a generator reduces its wear in some way, which will increase its life in some way. The effect will be slight, though,

It's a bit like keeping a car off-road in some respects - it doesn't need servicing and repair so often.

When running at light loads, gensets decrease a bit in fuel economy. This is not ordinarily a big issue, but one should be aware of it.

If the exhaust temperature becomes unusually low, "wet stacking" may occur; i.e., condensation of corrosive gas fractions.

Under low delivery, fuel injectors might not produce a perfect spray pattern. This could result in unburned fuel and exhaust pollution, as well as affecting fuel economy.
