Non IS Cable

Dear All

Our vendor have lay the non is cable into IS cable is it allowed or do they need to seperated or keep distance to IS cable.

Provided the required creepage and clearance distances can be maintained, the only thing that would prevent it is the Client's Electrical Installation Standards.

It depends on the standard you are working to.

For example, I think IEC 60079 (the European standard) calls for 8-10mm separation of cables, 20mm separation of components and 50mm separation of terminations between IS and non-IS but that may change depending on the non-IS wiring voltage.

Consult your local applicable electrical standards for the correct answer.

jack right. It is depend on which standard you are working on.

For example, NEC 504 require IS cable to be installed on separated tray, or if installed in the same tray, it will have min 50 mm permanent distance or grounded metal plate separation.

IEC 60079 however call for less requirement. You might place IS and Non IS cable in the same duct/tray provided that the IS cables are having metal sheats or screens.

Also consult the company/client spec requirement

Dear All

For Non Armoured IS cable lay on cable tray through the metal conduit is it acceptable to standard or need to install separator steel plate.
