Satellite LNB retransmission

05/29/2007 8:57 AM

Does anyone know of a commercially available microwave transmitter/receiver specifically made to accept MPEG-2 input from a satellite LNB and wirelessly transmit line-of-sight to a receiver/demodulator so that it can be fed into a separate satellite dish receiver for a remotely located TV?

I have searched the internet and found many individual components with which I can put together a system, but so far, I haven't found a complete system.

O. K. Just for the helluvit, let's say I want to transmit 1000 yards.

A friend of mine owns a boat and regularly sets up a satellite dish antenna, but in windy conditions (even moored at the marina), reception is intermittent. One solution to this is to set an antenna on terra firma and beam the signal to not only his boat but to several others, amounting to a small, local DVB system.

There is a cheap way if the distances do not exceed about 200 yards in the open, set up a dish on the shore, as near to the boats as possible and get a good quality video/audio TX/RX system that is used to put TV in a house where no dish is possible. i use one for my caravan and car, the video camera looks out the back of the caravan and a small B/W TV in the cab receives the signal and I get a good picture of what is happening behind me!!

If more than one boat is to watch, each needs his own receiver and everyone has to watch the same channel UNLESS you have some way of each person having their own Sat receiver, transmitting their own program, but the problem there is that you are generally limited to only 4 different channels.....

I have forgotten what the units are called but they run out at about $50 per set (1 x TX 1 x RX) here in europe.....

Not knowing exactly what you want or your budget, it is difficult to be specific, sorry.

I've found a few remote video Tx/Rx systems, but the range is limited. The reason I wanted MPEG-2 buffer/Tx is to come straight off the LNB, which has all channels. Having to have satellite dish recievers/tuners for each location isn't a problem for the time being.

Thanks for the input.

Dah just get another satellite dish. This probably is not something the satellite company wants to know about but you can do it. I live in one house three days a week and the other home 4 I have dishes at each and I just grab my box when I go home or go to work.
