Wall Thickness for Internal Pressure

03/22/2013 5:40 AM

Regarding wall thickness calculations per 31.3

Values of Coefficient (Y) is not given for Martensitic steels but given for other materials.

Pl. suggest.

Paddy,

I believe we have to address a third world and cultural issue.

Many mid-eastern cultures do not understand that it is impossible to be a mind reader. They assume that you are looking over their shoulder at the problem and can see all subtleties and aspects.

They also do not bother to use English grammar, spelling or punctuation. There is a valid reason for usage of these things. They are not a formality.

I understand that the OP is interested in the correct calculation of piping minimum wall thickness in accordance with the rules of ASME B31.3. The "Y" factor, used in the equation needs further definition...... but he could not be bothered telling you that.

Frequently, the same poster that provides marginal information in a confusing, misspelled message gets angry when not answer is provided immediately..... Too Bad

Paddy, please get used to this. This is the hallmark of the future..

I think you are refering to ASME/ANSI B-31.3 for process piping . I believe that martensitic SS was not included because we dont use such type of material in piping .
