Easiest solution is to install a diverter plate (with 90 degree bent edges- bent in direction of flow on top and bottom- at least 1 inch (0.4 cm) long) on two vertical posts set for angular position (a minimum of 45 degree to direction of flow) that would drop onto conveyor (rope or chain actuator) and direct waste into cullet carts. Plate should be at least 2/3 height of bottles.

End of plate should have curve back to normal to conveyor and cullet carts should fit slightly under conveyor with ability to push new, empty cart in place of full cart "on the fly" to continue to collect waste with no "spill" on floor.

Plate can be any type of metal, just thick enough to resist deformation from hot bottles as it is heated due to contact.

There seems to be a slight mistake in your maths:

"1 inch (0.4 cm) long)....?????"

You are correct.

I did a quick 2.54 cm to the inch and divided 1 by 2.54. Obviously it is 2.5 cm rounded to one place.

Thanks for the catch.

Simple. Reduce, "quantity of hot bottle rejection" to acceptable levels.

Go back to your CR4 homepage and click on "search Globalspec" in the top right hand corner.

I recently received a Globalspec html (they send these out regularly) that included a blurb & link from a conveyor manufacturer on processing hot glass & a need to reduce micro checks caused during the transfer stage; for some reason I opened & read this one. Deleted the html afterwards & don't remember when it was but you may be able to find it & it may be pertinent to reducing your rejection rate; also may help find a manufacturer that can provide what you need.

I worked in a glass bottle plant ten years ago. We added additional wide steel tabletop conveyor as a cushion for when these things occur. Having more space to send the bottles was key. This was always tough throwing away potentially good bottles because they have no place to go. Glass manufacturing, like steel, it's not economically possible to shut down the forming process when something goes wrong downstream, like a conveyor, or packaging.
