Vacuum Pump Utilisation

04/06/2013 7:18 AM

Dear All,

How I can utilize one vacuum pump for two Application in one Packaging Machine.

because both places we are opening vacuum to cut the vacuum from application.

It might affect each other application performance.

Is there any valve or something which can hold the vacuum.

Or I have to fix different vacuum pump for both Application.

Warm regars,

Sandeep Lokhande

Use an accumulator, or storage tank capable of withstanding vacuum. The tank can accumulate vacuum between cycles, deliver vacuum to both lines.

You have the machine in front of you. We don't. Sometimes the application of simple logic can solve these simple problems.

How much "vacuum" will each operation consume? Is one pump capable of supperting both demands? Won't a surge tank work? Pehaps a simple solenoid valve would work.

Surly, you have the brain power to reason through such a SIMPLE exercise to arrive at an answer.

Capacity of pump- demand of machine= equals headroom. If demand exceeds supply, then a tank or two pumps will be necessary.

If one section of the machine (e.g., sealing) needs a deeper vacuum than another (e.g., forming), pulling the deeper vacuum for both uses more energy.

It can be done with an accumulator and a regulator, though.

FESTO (Bangalore- a German company and SMC India (somewhere in Noida)- a Japanese company make vacuum holding solenoid valves- which have been widely used in lamp making machines. The lamp shell gets indexed over 12 to 24 positions and vacuum pump is switched between indexed position. I am sure you can find these from their web sites.
