Analog PF Meter Connections

04/08/2013 3:02 AM

I have a standard analog meter installed on a generator. The connections were made in way that voltage signal form PT were given at terminals 5 & 8 from phases Y&B (or L2 & L3). Current from R-phase CT given to terminal 3 & out from terminal 1.
However when generator on load the meter does not work with needle tilted downwards at 0.5 PF.

Also I have another digital energy meter on the generator where all readings are perfect & I also confirm that analog meter itself is not faulty.

I think if I change terminals of CT (R phase) on meter such that incoming from 1 & out from 3 the problem might be resolved. I would like to know your opinion on this matter, do you think it will work?

Why not simply try and see?

One of the possibilities is that the meter is giving a true power factor of around 0.5; the forum cannot tell remotely.

What does the manual say? What did the meter manufacturer say in response to the telephone call?

We used to be overrun with Naugas around here, but the popularity of Naugahyde in the 60s and 70s resulted in their extincion.

Lerts I feer are on the same path to ruination. Everyone is using a Lert for the siliest things, I even have my iPhone use one 20 or 30 times per day!

Let's me be simple basic in principle. You think, your setup produces this. One meter indicates that. Another meter indicates something else.

And you ask us, which one is lying, including your interpretation, as an added possibility.

Make independent measurements. Or better, make independent measurements with personnel, who know what they are doing, certifiably.

Duh.

Ego deflating, and expensive.

You live and learn.
