Just a wild guess,

But with the increasing demand for Hybrid and electric vehicles, I would create engines that would be used for cars.

Alternators are now overpriced in the auto industry (since most are assembled in the Orient)

Also there is expected to be an increase in demand for wind generators of all sizes

I could imagine that someone who could produce a DC (brushless would be best) motor for 12 or 24 volts to power a bicycle, would find a market all over the world, especially if that motor could be built into the hub of the front wheel, be fully controllable for speed, recharges the battery pack when going down a hill to conserve energy and allow normal bike riding when the battery is flat, without adding any extra resistance to movement.

Motor should be short from front to back, to allow fitting into any bike front fork, but could be fairly large in diameter, so long that it is not too heavy. I would suggest a high quality plastic or fiber glass or carbon fiber construction. light weight and powerful, but with relatively slow RPM speeds....

Naturally new spokes (shorter) to fit it into any size wheel should be also made available otherwise the work involved would be too expensive.

The motor could also be made as a "Piggy-back" style, like the old Solex 2 stroke bike assister from France that are not produced anymore.....to fit any bike without altering the wheel itself..

Hello new friend: Wow did you open a kettle of fish. I will tell you this just to get it over with. You can get a moter to move the moon. What you need to do is find what the mass load is. Don'y worry it is not that difficult. You fist of have to figure out the load that you need to move. That translates into Watts. Do not worry yet! Because there is not an Engineer out there that wouldn't tell you the HP of a motor you require, Generally you add 10% and double it. Mush unfortunate actually. However you should look at the failue facture. Nobody wants to be responsible for death and you can't blame them. Having said that, Europe, use Lesson. Give them the spec's though. Go direct to CSA or UL for their recomondation. Once you find the spec., reenter your question to the forum. We will help you!!!
