Through Conduit Gate Valve/Standard Gate/Plug Valve

In Through conduit Gate valve the seating surface is in contact with the Gate at all times.What is the benefit of this?

What features makes it different from Standard Gate valve and Plug valve (commonly used for abrasive services like Through conduit gate valve) ?

For one thing, this would help prevent abrasive particles from getting between the gate and the seating surfaces.

For another thing, it stops the gate from disappearing away downstream in the event of its becoming disconnected from its lifting mechanism.
