SA182F403L to SA965F304l

05/07/2013 9:09 PM

Hi,

I would like to know that is there any chance to change SA182F304L to SA965 F304L.

In ASME Code section II part A, SA-182 state that,
"For larger projucts and products for other applications, refer to specifications A336/ A336M and A 965/ A 965M for similar ferritic and austenitic grades, respectively, available in those specifications"

Please suggest me a way to change if possible cos we wrongly ordered for my Girth Flange material.

Do you mean substitute or change one material into the other one by heat treatment or something?

To substitute you order a new batch of material and machine it the same way you have done already.

I doubt that you can change one material to the other one without big effort and smeltering it new and put it through a forge.

Basically the answer is NO.

Your last resort might be that the customer accepts the other material which has to be communicated and negotiated.

Good luck next time!

Re-order the right one, and stop wasting time here hoping and waiting.

A182 is a flange, fitting, valve spec, A965 is a forging spec. Are you going to beat a flange into something else? Have you read these specs?

"wrongly ordered for my Girth Flange"

Maybe it's the material to be used when flanging Girths.
