Atomizing Air Compressor

Please anyone could explain what is atomizing air ? how its works in compressor and turbines ?

For liquid-fueled boilers and turbines, compressed air can be injected along with the fuel. This helps to break up the fuel into tiny droplets. This is called "atomization", but isn't really that small.
