Two Phase Flow Meter

05/14/2013 9:18 AM

I have an application of measuring two phase fluid , in a pipe

For this line, the gas will be ≈30 MMSCFD and the liquid ≈ 150 BBLs/D.
The client want to measure the gas, the liquid is not that important.

what is the best type of flow meter for this application?

Is the orifice flow meter will be OK for this service? Or the liquid will affect its accuracy?
If we install orifice flow meter to measure the gas and the line includes some liquid, what is the accuracy could be achieved?

What is the line size?

Forget orifeces.

Can you, do you, want to separate gas from oil before you measure the volume stream?

1 Fluid barrel = 4.2109375 cubic feet so its theoretically not making a dent in the measurement as the volume is order of 4 magnitudes below your gas stream.

Try google! It actually came up with some interesting things.

If the flow of gas is proportional to the flow of liquid, measure the liquid and calculate the gas flow.

...using a mass flowmeter. One hopes that these instruments are available for the desired line size.

PWSlack

Just for info, SHELL DEP prohibits the use of mass flow meter in two phase flow.

Orifice plate is definitely not a suitable method at all. The correct technology is available.

Google Roxar and Framo (manufacturers) on internet. Their products are also marketed by others. There's even mention under Emerson (USA).

www.ep-weatherford.com/ and,

a pdf for your delight at .http://www.gcg-es.com/Principals%20Products/4%20-%20Roxar/Roxar%2002%20-%20Multiphase%20Flow%20Meter.pdf

I charge by the hour for further education...go get 'em.
